Die Variante verkürzt die Spitz-Tour um den Abschnitt durch Tübingen-Lustnau. Dadurch entgeht einem der Egeria-Trail, aber auch Asphaltstraßen und der Anstieg von der Adlerkreuzung hoch zum Herrlesberg.

Die Spitz-Tour wird dadurch knappe 5 Kilometer kürzer.
